snow glow

What a fun summer thing to do! I mean, really? How excited would your kids be if you had THIS for FHE as a treat?
Here's the how to.

It's a thing we do

Yes, we get up early every July 24th, to celebrate the first Mormon Pioneers that entered into the Great Salt Lake in 1847. We walk down to the end of our most heavy traffic street. We line-up and wait for this...

Everyone dresses up in Pioneer clothing, some ride horses. Very few have floats. Many toss candy at the kids and they run out and pick-up melted taffy.

It used to be much bigger, more thought and care when I was younger. I suppose everyone is too busy now a days to put a little more effort into it.
I remember the long parade, huge BBQ that everyone went to. Games in the front of the elem. building, rodeo for the kids and in the evening a dance in K-hall that featured a live country band. Now, it's a weak parade, 6 games on the baseball field and pre-made hambergers at noon. All sad if you ask me.

There's a goat some where in there.

We went over to the Farmer's Market after the "Parade." We bought fresh garlic and a Crape Myrtle. We played with the goats and went over to the play ground and played on the slide.

I think the only involved activity was Dr. Andy demonstarting how they used to plow fields over by the tennis courts. Dr. Andy gave us our first oxen ride around the school parking lot.

And, that was my weekend. Wha'd you do?

an evening in Roma

I wish. Last night I was out in the atrium sweeping up leaves. I wanted to plant my Crape Myrtle that I got at the Farmer's Market over the weekend and wanted to have a clean canvas before I started. Somehow, everyone migrated outside and my niece, that is with us for a week, got my lights working again, thank you, and the hubster helped plant the bush and the kids, well, they made a mess.

Thinking of Eldon and Heather Kartchner today.

Mystery solved

This just made me laugh when I saw this picture of monkey and had to put up a picture of what her pose reminded me of.

Chickadee Bead Art

I've been wanting to blog about my new favorite jewelry maker and finally stole pictures of my favorites! Normally, I 'm not a big jewelry fan and I wouldn't buy it unless I get it as a gift or it's really unique that I love it so much that I will then, buy it.
Lately, I buy my jewelry from World Market Cost plus. They have jewelry that is imported from countries like India and Italy so I like to get things that no one else would have.
I became a fan of a relatives jewelry on Facebook and checked some of it out. I liked it so much that I wanted to share the type of jewelry that I like to wear.

Isn't this the coolest necklace? It's so creative, it's hand crocheted and has vintage buttons. I've never seen anything like this and it screams my name!

I love PINK. For a while I was buying anything that was offered in pink, cell phone, Nintendo Lite, sunglasses and when I saw this I wanted it. Unfortunately, when I wear bracelets my wrist looks like a hoof with accessories. So, I want this for Monkey instead. She loves to glam it up.

When I saw the necklace I thought, WOW that is so cool and I just love the colors. She has another one that you can interchange the flower, but I loved the POP of the red and it would go great with many of my blouses. I love chunky jewelry. It's so in and again, I don't see cool jewelry out there like this.

This bracelet I have seen in person. When I was up in Idaho I saw a cousin, Kim, wearing it and man, it stood out. It was such a eye catcher and I had to ask about it. It is so unique and I love that you can personalize it. I wouldn't be able to narrow it down to what I would want it to say. I think I would want my little nuggets names on it so while I'm in the nut house I can remember my children's names when I lose my mind completely.

So, I want to tell you about this necklace. While I was gone on vacation I had my friend Jenn water my plants. She came by everyday with her 2 kids and watered my huge collection of plants and my garden for 10 days. I was asking a lot of her and she did me a HUGE favor. I wanted to thank her with something unique, other than a gift card. So impersonal. I wanted to pick-up something great to re-pay her. I was going through the Chickadee site and when I saw this I instantly felt that Jenn would love this.

So, I gave Jenn the necklace last night and I could shoot my self in the foot that I didn't get anything for myself so, I went back to the site and bought 3 more things for such a great price and until July 31st it's free shipping so I had to take advantage of that.

These rings are so cute. I love an eye catching cocktail ring and these will definitely get noticed. I love that you can change the size so you can put it on any finger. I bought both!

If you've seen me lately, you've probably seen me wearing a material flower in my hair. I love to wear these and when I saw this dainty flower clip I wanted it since I don't have this color and I love PINK! It doesn't say this on the site, but you could also pin this on your blouse too. My hair can't wait to have it to show off.

Check it ALL out here before I buy her out of stock!

I am happy when I'm sharing

Yesterday, I bought a pack of bubbles. I didn't want to buy the 5 gallon vat so I decided on the 6 pack. Monkey goes through bubbles as fast as she does sidewalk chalk. Bubba has discovered that bubbles are pretty great too and this morning he got a hold of monkey's bubbles and wanted them bad. Monkey saw that he had her bubbles and became upset and from that point the world as we know it was coming to an end. I always tell her that we share with our friends/brother and that it feels good when we share. After I told her once again "we share with others and it feels good when we share with others"she responded,
"I feel sick."

so crafty

While I was at Hobby Lobby I found this rose in the wedding section. It was a buck, but it was half-off at the register so I got it for $.50 for those of you that didn't take college math.
I'm becoming obsessed with gluing things on headbands. I promise to stop when I get the urge to glue Hot Wheels cars on one.

messages

I think that I had promised on an earlier post that I would take a picture of the other message board that I made for my mom at Christmas last year. Again, it was really inexpensive to make.
The frame, I got at a thrift store and the paint was left-over from my bedroom, which I need to re-do since, when I walk in I just have the feeling that I need shag carpet and a disco ball. The ribbon and material I got half-off with a coupon at Jo-Ann's.
Ta-da!

Juicy Fruit

Photo Challenge #13. I struggled with this one. I kinda just gave-up today on this assignment. Take a picture of fruit. We were also encouraged to use a post photo enhancement which I know I can download one for free to give the red a burst, they'll just have to do with the actual color of the strawberry.

Where do I keep it?

Monkey had a playdate this week. They made sock puppets for a puppet show. She got to take it home with her. She always falls alseep on the way home since it's close to her naptime. When I put her in the car she had the puppet on her hand was showing it to brother.
When I pulled into the driveway she was fast alseep and she placed it here...

Where can I get hair like that?

Inner play-time

I am so behind on my photo class. Being on vacation put me days behind and I'm trying to do all of them as fast as I can so I can fully appreciate it. So, this is assignment #18. I know, what happened from 8-13? I'm keeping track so you don't have to!
Play-time, we were to find our inner play-time activity.
We go through so much sidewalk chalk monthly, Monkey loves drawing and will use any medium. And, I find drawing on the sidewalk really relaxing.
I tend to tune her out too at that time so that maybe the relaxing part.
It was so stinkin' hot today even though it's only 91 degrees the rain that I smell coming is making it super muggy and just as bad as if it was 110 degrees.

While the little nuggets ate lunch I ran outside and kicked the chalk in a pile and just started shooting before the pads of my feet began melting. I tell ya, I take better pictures when I don't look through the view finder and just start shooting. That should be my trademark.

I entered the one above and the one below in my gallery for my class.

butterfly in the sky

I found these butterflies at Hobby Lobby for $.99
And I attached them to headbands that I got a pack of 3 for $.99
So, I made this headband for $.66

Beat that price Claire's

ROY G BIV

You look beautiful tonight

so subtle

Assignment 7, yes 7, I skipped #6 for right now since it's a landscape shot and I want to wait until dusk to get the shot that I'm looking for. So, #7 is to take a shot of something so subtle you hardly notice it. Do you know what it is? Monkey discovered hundreds of these while we were waiting for g'pa and daddy to ride down the mountain trails. She would find one and blow on them and the seeds would scatter. She called them "Tinkerbell," since the movie Tinkerbell starts out as one of these.
This shot reminded me of the 3 good fairies on Sleeping beauty.
I watch too many Disney movies.

snow cones

It was hot a day in Boise, hotter than where I'm from. That's impossible is what I thought too.

Snow cones or bust.

You can enter and maybe win too,
But for my sake, I hope you don't.
