playing outside

While it seems that more than half the world is struggling with terrible weather, we are enjoying our breezy, cool winter time. After Pre-school, we couldn't just go home and stay inside. We had to go to the park and enjoy the great weather.

never miss naptime

Monkey still takes a nap, she needs it. If she misses her scheduled nap time she becomes "fragile." We went over to a friends house down the street from us for quite some time yesterday. Bubbie took a 3 hour nap there so when he woke-up we came back home. I brought Bubbie into the house and saw that Monkey hadn't come in side yet when she was right behind me. I went outside and found her out cold. Comfy much?

cookies for santa

Yesterday, while Bubbie napped, Monkey made cookies for Santa. I measured out all the ingredients for her to put in the mixture just so they could be adult friendly. When I worked at the school and someone would offer a treat we would always ask if they were adult friendly. That meant "has any child sneezed in the food?" If they were adult friendly then it was clear to partake. It's been really warm here lately. It was 74 degrees yesterday. So, while 38 states are under a blanket of snow we had our winter last week and are now walking barefoot and doors open.

Starting a tradition

The hubster wanted to start a tradition to have the kids get Christmas Jammie's to wear the week of Christmas. And since next Saturday is Christmas. Yes, it's true, Christmas is 10 days away. Anyway, we broke out the Jammie's and they thought that was fun putting on slippers and sitting in front of the tree.

cake sugar cookies

We made cake sugar cookies the other night and the nuggets and the hubster decorated them while I took pictures. A friend gave me a great simple recipe for cake sugar cookies that work perfect for the Pampered Chef cookie press.

I've had the cookie press for a long time but, never used it. I know, shame on me. I had no idea how many little cute cookies I could push out in a matter of seconds with that baby.
I let the kids pick out which cookie press designs they wanted and they bake in a few short minutes. Now i can tell people about the cookie press!
They were buttery and soft. Tasty!

midnight drive to georgia

A couple of weeks ago Bubbie had croup. He sounded terrible so we did all we could to help him recover. His barking cough lasted 3 days and was quite mild as it could of been way worse. One advise given was to drive around in the cold night air and that helps with breathing.
We loaded both nuggets in the car and made sure they were snug as a bug and wend down the "wee road." It's called the wee road because you say "WEE" when you go on the dips.

Deck the Halls

It's our tradition to decorate the house the weekend after Thanksgiving. We have another tradition that we buy an ornament for each of the kids each year so when they have their own tree they will have ornaments to hang. I started another tradition to make a ornament too each year. Although, this year we've already made 12.
Bubbie was napping while we decorated. But, we saved his ornament for him to put on the tree when he woke-up.
This task had to be performed several times. The angel kept falling off.

PS. After I write each entry I do a spell check and I was so excited when I spelled everything right this time that I had to share it!

Rudy

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was on last night. I remember watching every year growing up. It was strange to see it so clearly last night. I don't know if it's our TV or if they recently cleaned up the film, but it was so sharp compared how it used to be shown. We now have the full set of these films. Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph and a couple other classics. Of course we didn't have that luxury when we were little to watch it whenever we wanted so I wonder if it holds the same special-ness to my little nuggets as it does me.
