home again

A group of mommies (including me) started a Pre-School. We wanted to get a head start on shapes, colors, letters and numbers. This week it was at a mommy's house that happens to be right down the street from us, but in the same neighborhood so we were able to walk down there. I like that. Bubbie and Monkey looked so cute walking back that I had to snap a shot of them. Right after Bubbie threw him self on the ground since Monkey didn't want to hold his hand. Nice.
So, my In-Laws were disgusted by my 13 year old shredded couch and wanted to buy us a new one. The hubster and I picked one out and it was being delivered tonight. We donated our old couch on Saturday and have been sitting on the floor ever since, not smart. We hear the back up beeper and run to the door and happily greet our new best friend...
...Not the right couch. Well, not the right color anyways. The guy walks in with the color of pillows that match a camel. I picked out the chocolate Brown couch. I didn't even know there were other colors so I never guessed that something different could show-up.
I felt like Phebe on 'Friends' when Monica orders a bed with a red mattress and when Phebe signs for it she's unaware that a kids red sports car bed shows up.
Back to sitting on the floor until my beloved new couch surfaces.

Happy last day of February.

with love...

Unfortunately, one of my favorite restaurants happens to be a chain. I love Macaroni Grill and man do I love their salmon and orzo. The hubster and I went out on a date on Valentine's day. I don't think we've ever done that, alone anyway. So, the nuggets went to a friends house and we went out to dinner. It was so nice outside that we sat out on the patio. We try do that every time. So much more relaxing than in a cramp room. We saw this dessert on the menu and wanted to try it. It was trying to pose as a cannoli with nutella, but failed miserably. Nothing can come close to the cannoli's we discovered in Milan. Maybe it was was just a great tasting cannoli, maybe it was Milan that made it seem to taste great, but we have yet to find anything in to compare it to!

do-over

Do you remember this mirror? I bought it for $5 and it was mauve, bleck. I painted it a beaming green apple and I like how it turned out. BUT, I would literally sit in Monkey's room and stare at it. It was missing something.

I had these cheap flowers leftover from headbands I was making for Monkey and decided to use them on the mirror and spice it up a bit.

I I softened the petals by taking them apart an rearranging them and glued a large bead in the center.

It's not perfect, but I just wanted to break-up all the green I suppose.

I can't wait until my next project. I've already started prepping!

heart shaped pasta

I found these heart shaped pasta at he store. Thought it would be cute for Valentine's day. I also have a cookbook that puts a lot of veggie puree into recipes to add extra nutrition if your kids don't go right for the asparagus on their plate. I made Turkey Meatball Soup and it had carrot and sweet potato puree added. You couldn't taste either one, but you knew there was added taste to the broth. I'm trying to use the recipes from this cookbook more often. It's call Deceptively Delicious. Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica wrote it and it's surprisingly full of great recipes with purees that you would question, but never know they're there! I actually bought it before I had to kids to get the hubster to eat more veggies without knowing since veggies are the food group he would leave untouched on in plate most often.

The love bug came

I bought these little mailboxes at Target for a buck. Each day for a week before Valentine's Day the Love bug came by and left little treasures for the nuggets. The flag would be up so they knew that the bug had come and put the flag down when they took out their little gift.
A good friend watched out little M&M's while the hubster and I went out on a Valentine's date. Afterwards, we picked them up and the first thing Monkey says is "I want to go on a date with you mommy." Cute.

scare the pants off.

So freakin' funny. Nothin' better than making someone wet themselves by scaring them to the floor. It's true, it's happened to me! Scroll down and push pause on my most favorite music down on the right side.

guess what my next easy project is?

For some reason the blogger drafting area won't let me write above the picture anymore. It's a conspiracy.
I follow a lot of blogs that have really cute craft ideas.
Back-up, I follow really cute blogs that have EASY craft ideas. I wanted to make these for Monkey's birthday last year and I just never got around to learning. Now that I have my little craft night (away from sticky fingers) I get to do the projects that I've just been wanting to do, but wouldn't because of, well, sticky fingers touchin' my stuff!!
I'll post pictures when I get them hung in her room.
Here's how to make 'em. I have my project night in a couple of weeks so I'm off to the $1 store to buy tissue paper.

we want to play fellas

Right across to hall from where Monkey attends ballet is a basketball court. Bubs and his BFF like to stand at the door and watch the players play BB.

dad, throw me up

Monkey asks dad every night, when he comes home from work, to 'throw me up.' Then bubbie wants to join in so it's a daily ritual to toss them into the air until Daddy's arms are about to fall off.
